At South of the River, we carefully select clothing, jewellery and accessories designed to be worn and enjoyed every day. Please follow the care instructions below to help keep your purchase looking its best.
Clothing Care
Always check the care label inside your garment before washing, as instructions may vary depending on the fabric.
Unless the care label states otherwise, we advise:
* Washing on a cold, gentle cycle with a mild detergent.
* Washing similar colours together.
* Turning garments inside out before washing.
* Avoiding bleach and harsh stain-removing products.
* Air-drying garments flat.
* Avoiding tumble drying unless specifically permitted on the care label.
* Using a cool iron or steamer where appropriate.
Take extra care with delicate fabrics, embroidery, sequins, trims and embellishments. These items may require hand washing or professional dry cleaning.
Natural fabrics and dyed garments may experience slight shrinkage, fading or colour transfer. We recommend washing darker and brighter colours separately.
The garment’s sewn-in care label should always take priority over this general guidance.
Jewellery Care
Our jewellery is designed as fashion jewellery and should be handled with care.
To help preserve its colour and finish:
* Avoid contact with water, perfume, hairspray, moisturiser, fake tan and household cleaning products.
* Remove jewellery before showering, bathing, swimming or exercising.
* Do not wear jewellery while sleeping.
* Store each piece separately in a dry place, ideally inside its pouch.
* Gently wipe jewellery with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
* Do not use chemical jewellery cleaners or abrasive cloths.
Plated and fashion jewellery may naturally tarnish, fade or show signs of wear over time. This is not considered a manufacturing fault. The speed of wear can vary depending on skin chemistry, moisture, products used and how the jewellery is stored.
If you have sensitive skin or a known metal allergy, please check the product information before wearing. Stop wearing the item immediately if irritation occurs.
Jewellery Safety Warning
Jewellery is not a toy and may contain small parts that could present a choking hazard.
* Keep jewellery and its packaging away from babies and young children.
* Not suitable for children under three years old.
* Children should only wear jewellery under responsible adult supervision.
* Remove children’s jewellery before sleeping, bathing, swimming, playing or taking part in physical activities.
* Bracelets, necklaces and other jewellery may present an entanglement or strangulation risk if worn incorrectly or left unattended.
* Check jewellery regularly for loose beads, damaged clasps, sharp edges or broken components. Discontinue use immediately if damage is found.
Unless a product is specifically described as being designed for children, our jewellery is intended for adult use.
Accessories
Bags, scarves and other accessories should be protected from excessive moisture, heat and direct sunlight. Avoid overfilling bags, as this can place strain on handles, seams and fastenings.
Spot-clean only unless the product’s care label states otherwise. Test any cleaning product on a small, discreet area before use.
Colour and Appearance
We make every effort to display product colours and details accurately. However, colours may appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography and individual screen settings.
Handmade, printed, dyed and natural-material products may show small variations in colour, pattern, texture or finish. These individual variations are part of the character of the product and are not normally considered faults.
