Delivery Information
All South of the River products are stocked and dispatched from our premises in Sevenoaks, Kent.
Order Processing
We normally process orders within 3–5 working days. During exceptionally busy periods, promotions or seasonal events, dispatch may take an additional working day.
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a confirmation email containing your tracking information. Please ensure that your email address and delivery details are correct when placing your order.
Pre-orders may have different time frames/dates, which will be shown on the product page. If your order includes both pre-order and in-stock items, we may dispatch the items together when the pre-order is ready. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays.

Safe-Place Deliveries
If you ask Royal Mail, Evri or another delivery provider to leave your parcel in a nominated safe place or with a neighbour, please ensure that the location is secure and protected from the weather.
Where a customer has provided specific safe-place instructions, confirmation from the delivery provider that those instructions were followed may be treated as evidence of delivery.
International Delivery
International orders are sent using a tracked service. A telephone number must be provided at checkout, as this may be required by the courier or local customs authority. We may be unable to dispatch an international order without a valid telephone number.
International delivery times are estimates. Customs processing and local delivery conditions can occasionally cause delays outside our control.

European Union VAT
South of the River is based in the United Kingdom. Orders sent to Ireland and other EU countries are therefore treated as international imports.
For eligible orders with a goods value of €150 or less, local VAT is collected at checkout through the Import One-Stop Shop scheme—known as IOSS. Our IOSS details are transmitted securely and electronically to the delivery provider.
When VAT has been correctly collected through IOSS, the same import VAT should not normally be charged again when the parcel arrives.
IOSS cannot be used for consignments with a goods value exceeding €150. Orders above this limit may be subject to import VAT, customs duty and local processing charges before delivery.
New EU Low-Value Parcel Duty
From 1 July 2026, a new customs duty applies to qualifying low-value ecommerce parcels entering the European Union from non-EU countries, including the United Kingdom.
The charge is currently €3 per item type or customs classification contained within a parcel. For example, a dress and a necklace may attract separate charges because they fall under different customs classifications.
Where this duty is collected during checkout, it will be shown as part of the order total. Where it is not collected at checkout, the local postal or customs provider may request payment from the recipient before delivery. A local handling or processing fee may also apply.
Customs Duties and Import Charges
Charges vary according to the destination, order value, product classification and country of origin.
Any VAT, customs duty, tariff, handling fee or import charge expressly collected during checkout is included in the customer’s order total. Any charge that is not shown and collected at checkout remains the responsibility of the recipient.
Customers are responsible for checking their country’s import requirements before placing an order. Local customs or postal authorities can provide further information about possible charges.
If import charges are refused, the parcel may be returned to us. Once it has been received and inspected, eligible products will be refunded in accordance with our returns policy. Original delivery charges, return-to-sender costs, customs charges and courier fees may be deducted from the refund where legally permitted.
Customs Information
To comply with international shipping requirements, we provide the delivery company and customs authorities with:
-
An accurate description of the goods
-
The order value
-
The relevant customs or HS codes
-
The products’ countries of origin
-
The recipient’s delivery and contact information
We cannot mark a commercial order as a gift or declare an artificially reduced value.
Pre-Orders
Products clearly marked as “Pre-Order” normally have an estimated lead time of 1–2 weeks. We will dispatch your order as soon as the stock arrives with us.
If an order contains both available and pre-order products, the complete order will normally be dispatched once all products are available, unless otherwise agreed.
Selecting an express delivery service does not reduce the pre-order waiting period. It means that the selected delivery service will be used once the pre-order product is ready to dispatch.
If we expect a pre-order to take longer than the stated estimate, a member of our team will contact you with an updated delivery date.
Incorrect or Incomplete Addresses
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address, including the correct postcode, Eircode and apartment or unit number where applicable.
If a parcel is returned because the address was incorrect or incomplete, we may ask the customer to pay the cost of sending it again. Original delivery costs may not be refundable where the error was caused by incorrect information supplied during checkout.
Please contact us as quickly as possible if you notice an error. We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed once an order has entered processing.
Delivery Problems
If your delivery is delayed, missing, damaged or otherwise affected, please speak to the courier first.
If your order has arrived damaged, please contact us at hello@southoftheriver.co.uk with your order number. If your parcel appears to be delayed, please allow a little extra time for delivery before getting in touch.
We will review the tracking information and, where appropriate, raise an enquiry with the delivery provider. Courier investigations can take several working days to complete.
